Hit the trails and get to grips with the More Mile Cheviot 4 Trail Running Shoes.

With its new and improved sleeker and lower profile design, the Cheviot 4 comes with a thinner, tighter weave mesh in the upper, which gives the shoes an improved durability meaning they’ll hold up on the roughest fells and trails. This tighter weave mesh also provides a water resistant upper whilst maintaining its breathability. This is coupled with the new sewn in tongue further improving the water repellence of the Cheviot 4. Momentarily submerged in puddles and pools, the shoes won’t immediately fill with water! The durable and high quality fabrics used in the upper allow the Cheviot 4 to be flexible and handle the multi-terrains and conditions that the hills and fell routes throw at you, while allowing your feet to breathe at the same time.

The More-tech rubber outsole with a multi-directional tread pattern is made from a softer compound than the previous models of the Cheviot. This is to provide greater traction of hard surfaces such as rocky fell routes and dry or baked trails whilst also improving the impact protection of the shoe. Flex ribs in the mid/outsole give improved forefoot flexibility allowing the foot to contour and mould over rocks and roots on the trail and permit more precision in foot placement. The full length Phylon EVA midsole provides a longer lasting, softer feel to the shoes over those with a standard EVA midsole. This results in an ultra-comfortable, plush ride with amazing impact protection on longer runs and rocky descents.

The Cheviot 4 is ideally suited to orienteers and obstacle racers too. The More™ technology that has been included throughout the Cheviot 4’s provides a comfortable, lightweight and aggressively agile ride, allowing you to move nimbly and quickly over any terrain or obstacles between checkpoints and features!

Product review for womens- the men's weren't for me and the site won't let me opt out Review by Caroline
Pros: Great value trail shoes. Pleasantly surprised by quality. Price excellent
Cons: The sizes are small (I'd recommend getting one and a half sizes bigger) colour choices limited. (Posted on 03/05/2018)
Excellent fell shoes at a bargain price Review by John
Having run many hundreds of miles in my first pair of More Mile shoes (the Cheviot 3 model), which have proved first class, I bought a pair of Cheviot 4 shoes over the internet without even seeing them. They aren't very different from the Cheviot 3 and are just as good. I live in a very hilly area of northern England and much of my running is on the tops, often in harsh conditions. The sole of the shoe is one of the best I've used for grip, giving confidence on difficult and slippy ground. I always have several pairs of fell shoes on the go at any one time, some of which cost three times the price of the MM Cheviots. I can honestly say that the Cheviots are my favourites.
These shoes don't appear to get much coverage in the various running magazines, which seem to prefer to push far more expensive models. Are these magazines genuinely independent, I wonder?
Thank you MM for delivering a very fine product. (Posted on 18/04/2018)
Perfect for winter trail races when conditions are wet and challenging Review by Stuart
Having only been able to find a couple of reviews online for the Cheviot 3 running shoes I was a little apprehensive about purchasing the Cheviot 4. However, the promise of somewhat softer lugs and a better performance on tarmac along with the amazing price (when you factor in the discount code that was available when I purchased) convinced me to give these shoes a go. I concluded that they would save my much more expensive but less lugged trail shoes from the ravages of a few winter races that I was planning to do and at this price could be considered disposable if they only held up for a few races. As suggested I purchased a half size larger than my normal shoe size. If purchasing again I would probably go a full size but with the help of a couple of shoe trees and some wearing about the house, they soon stretched to be a very good if snug fit. In reality if you are going to wear these as I have on some very muddy trails (exactly what they are intended for) then you want them to be quite a tight fit rather than loose. They are quite a narrow fit so if you have very wide feet you might struggle a little with them. Think Inov-8 mudclaw in respect to the kind of precision fit we are talking about here. I used them first on at the Castle Hill Corker multi-terrain race in north Devon in February and the conditions were exactly as you might expect. On the day of the race, it was very wet with lots of deep mud in both rutted forest trails and across grassed fields. The race starts on a tarmac road and my greatest fears were immediately put to rest as the Cheviot 4 whilst in no way a highly cushioned ride was more than acceptable for short distance work on the tarmac. I would say you are perfectly safe doing a few miles between off-road sections in these without issue, maybe more. In the deep mud, they are great and prevent both lateral and forward/after slipping in a way that only such heavily lugged shoes can. So my first outing completely convinced me of the value of this kind of shoe when competing in proper UK winter conditions over the mostly soft ground. The second event was over slightly harder trails at the Pure Trails - Deep River Trail event at Castle Drogo in central Devon. This was in early March and the trails whilst very, very wet are of a harder much more rocky nature so it was a great chance to try the Cheviot 4 out in slightly different winter conditions. I like the shoes so much that I got a friend of mine who stood in for someone else at the last minute a pair to prevent his newly acquired Brooks from getting wrecked. He was also totally blown away by these shoes for the price. On the very rocky wet ground they were just as grippy and very stable as they are in deep muddy conditions and along part of the course which is basically river bed and bank and full of wet tree roots they performed with great confidence giving grip. For the money and assuming you are OK with a snug fairly narrow fit these shoes are awesome. Purchase a pair just to see if they work for you and save the £100 plus elements of your shoe cupboard for longer or dryer trail events. Looking forward now to trying them out on some other events before things hopefully dry up a little:-). (Posted on 23/03/2018)
